About

They say home is where the heart is, but for me, home has been a moving target. I was born in Korea, but at the age of 10, I immigrated to the United States. I spent the next 38 years there—building a life and absorbing a western perspective—before returning to Korea for 8 years to reconnect with my roots.

For the past decade, however, I have been living in Vientiane, Laos.

I call myself a "professional traveler." Not just because of the miles I’ve logged, but because I believe life itself is a journey of observation. Living in Laos has given me a unique vantage point: a blend of slow time, rich culture, and the space to finally see the world clearly.

I resisted the title for a long time, but I have come to accept that I am a Fine Art Photographer.

My work is not about capturing a perfect postcard; it is about capturing a feeling. I am influenced by many artists, Picasso especially because he experimented many genres and that he was a true living legend. And recently, Hwang Gyu Tae, because like me he lived and worked in US and he explored how far photography can go in his prime time, unlike most Korean photographers whom are his contemporaries, who are just students of Henry Cartier Bresson.

Most recently, I held an exhibition here in Laos to mark a turning point in my artistic career. I am particularly proud of my series Latent Epiphany, a collection of 40 black and white photographs of clouds. It represents my effort to find the heavy, beautiful texture in something as fleeting as water vapor.

While I take my art seriously, I try not to take myself too seriously.

I turned 66 recently. However, I subscribe to a strict philosophy that you must multiply your biological age by 0.8 to get your true age. By that math, I’m still in my prime.

I am an avid golfer who plays three times a week. If you see me on the course, don't ask about my swing—I change it every single round.

My creative process is often fueled by music. I am a lifelong fan of Pink Floyd, and I still believe Dark side of the moon is THE masterpiece.

I started this site to fit into the current flow of trends, but it has become more than that. It is a digital archive of my thoughts, my translation of the world, and my visual experiments.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope you find something here that makes you pause and look at your own world a little differently.
